Life With Jesus: Part 2

Yesterday, I wrote about living life totally abandoned to Jesus and the power that can come from a unified relationship with God.  After I finished writing, I felt that I had forgotten to answer a very important question in regards to life with Jesus, and that is the question of why?

Why should I live life with Jesus?

The answer is two-fold: First, God desires a relationship with you; and second, God desires to use you to introduce others to Him.

#1: God desires a relationship with you
A man once loved a woman, but the woman did not love him back.  So he decided to show her his love in extravagant ways.  He bought her a bright bouquet of flowers, but she wasn't impressed.  He took her out to eat at the most expensive restaurant in town, yet she still didn't give him her love.  He gave her every waking hour of his day, and still she didn't love him.

One day, the man was walking down the street, desperately thinking for a way to earn the woman's love.  Suddenly, he saw her walking across the street in front of her.  As he made his way toward her, he saw a truck driving wildly in her direction!  Without a moment's hesitation, the man dove in front of the truck and pushed the woman to safety.  The woman was saved, but the man was killed.  Only after this tragedy did the woman finally realize that the man truly did love her.

This is a similar picture, if you will, to the story of God's redemption of mankind.  God desired a relationship with you so much, He sent His one and only Son to be sacrificed for you on the cross (John 3:16).  The only way to a relationship with God is through His Son, Jesus (Romans 5:8).

This is the first and most critical decision you will ever have to make when deciding to live life with Jesus: Will you trust Him with your life?  The things of God are spiritual and eternal, while the things of man are physical and finite.  A life with Jesus is far superior to any counterfeit offered on this earth.  (But the ball is in your court; will you follow Him or not?)

#2: God desires to use you to introduce others to Him
Once, there was a man who found the cure for cancer.  He wrote in his journal about all the tests and research he conducted.  But instead of sharing this excitement with the world, he kept it all to himself, and at the end of his life, he went into his grave - his cure for cancer with him.

This is obviously an outrageously absurd story; however, this is identical to the scenario of a Christian who knows Jesus - has a relationship with God - yet refuses to share this Good News with anyone else.

If God desires a relationship with you, then that means He desires a relationship with everyone!  But Jesus is no longer physically here on this earth to spread the Good News.  Instead, after Jesus was risen from the dead and ascended into Heaven, He sent humankind the Holy Spirit so that all Christians can now be messengers of the Good News to the world.

This was God's master plan.  He desires to have a relationship with you - only possible through belief in Jesus as the answer to man's sin problem - and then He desires that you share this love - this cure for man's problem - with the rest of the world.

That is the purpose of living life with Jesus.  And I can attest that a life with Jesus is a life well spent.

But don't take my word for it; start your adventure with the Savior today!

'"For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved!'' (Romans 10:13).
