Ruled by Women

“My people—infants are their oppressors, and women rule over them…” (Isaiah 3:12).
For thousands of years, societies were governed by the fathers; some still are. This is called patriarchy (literally, “father rule”). In our corner of the world, the egalitarian worldview has mislabeled patriarchy as one of the darkest and most horrible societal structures of all time. For the last sixty years, American society has been ruled by the weaker sex; however, righteous men have finally had enough, as feminism has brought with it unprecedented violence, child sacrifice, (abortion), divorce, and promiscuity.[1] [2] [3] [4] In summary, the push by women in the 20th century to gain a place at the gates, and the equally disastrous consequence of men abdicating their headship, has devastated families, declined society, and softened men.
To begin, women entered the work force en masse during World War II (ca. 1940s) – and they never left.[5] In doing so, they left their place in the home, outsourcing the raising of children and caring for domestic needs to third parties, like the government. Government schools and other forms of child care are now mainstays in our daily lives.[6] As a result, fatherlessness is an epidemic.[7] Why would a father need to provide for his family when the government subsidizes all the basic needs for the women and children? Furthermore, as a result of women losing their God-given place in the home, abortion has skyrocketed – and has become an inalienable right.[8] How backwards must a society be when the life-givers become the strongest voices vying for murder of innocent children! God’s directive for women is to be in the home and to care for their children.
Additionally, from the Temperance Movement of the 1920s, in which women overstepped their husbands’ authority and asked the government to stop their husbands’ drinking at home (which didn’t work, by the way),[9] to Women’s Suffrage of the 1960s when women “earned the right” to vote, society has declined overall.[10] In other words, this increase and near domination of women ruling over society has not been beneficial. When left alone without any male assistance, the gentler sex has been weak on criminal justice and, by extension, human flourishing.[11] This is because when women take the helm, their native gentleness and nurturing mindset inevitably allows evil to flourish. On the other hand, a man has been given the physical strength to enforce rule and discipline; that is, he has the God-given strength to fight against an evil man and prevail. However, a woman, by design, doesn’t possess the same physical strength. Justice is not merely carried out by a pen stroke; it necessitates physical action. My assumption: As women have quantitatively increased in the social hierarchies of America, evil men have risen to fill the void left by the upright, strong men. God’s directive for women is that they take care of their homes and help their men in their work, not lead the man or bring justice against him (see Genesis 3:16).
Finally, as women have grown to higher positions of power and in greater quantity, men have been softened. Consider this scenario: due to diversity quotas, a woman has authority over a man because of her title, and she says that the man shouldn’t act so aggressively or that what he said was offensive, when in reality the man’s behavior is not sinful.[12] What is the result? The men tame themselves to the wishes of the woman because he is under her authority.[13] This is exactly the situation Isaiah speaks about when he says, “infants are [my people’s] oppressors, and women rule over them.” It is not a commendation, but a shame. When this scenario is perpetuated into future generations, the problem only multiplies. As a result, the majority of men are softer and weaker today than 100 years ago; there is no doubt about that.[14] God’s command to women is to nurture their children in the home and let the men grow in strength so they can lead righteously.
Today, however, young men are waking up. For the first time in decades, young men are going to church more than young women.[15] Furthermore, young men are displaying a greater desire to get married and have kids than young women.[16] The tides seem to be changing, and this is good news! Reclaiming the patriarchy is exactly what is needed for our societal restoration.
Finally, my charge to the women is this: let your boys be boys. Ask yourself if you, mother, would respond like Almanzo’s mother responded in Laura Ingalls Wilder’s Farmer Boy:
How the snowballs flew! Almanzo ducked and dodged and yelled, and threw snowballs as fast as he could, till they were all gone. Royal came charging over the wall and all the enemy after him, and Almanzo rose up and grabbed Frank. Headlong they went into the deep snow, outside the wall, and they rolled over and over, hitting each other as hard as they could.
Almanzo’s face was covered with snow and his mouth was full of it, but he hung on to Frank and kept hitting him. Frank got him down, but Almanzo squirmed out from under. Frank’s head hit his nose, and it began to bleed.
Almanzo didn’t care. He was on top of Frank, hitting him as hard as he could in the deep snow. He kept saying, “Holler ‘nuff! Holler ‘nuff!”
Frank grunted and squirmed. He rolled half over, and Almanzo got on top of him. He couldn’t stay on top of Frank and hit him, so he bore down with all his weight, and he pushed Frank’s face deeper and deeper into the snow. And Frank gasped: “’Nuff!”
Almanzo got up on his knees, and he saw his Mother in the doorway of the house. She called, “Boys! Boys! Stop playing now. It’s time to come in and warm.”
Your sons will make mistakes as they grapple for how to carry out their God-given responsibilities, and it may look and feel ugly, but give them room to grow. Let them grow through repentance when they look back and see that they “messed that one up.”
And young men: we’ve grown up in a society of softness, and we know generally the direction that we should be going, but we don’t know the exact destination. In our zeal, let us remember wisdom. Let us remember that God gave us helpers (i.e., women) and that to rule well we need to think of others and consider the needs of those who are weak (see Proverbs 31:8-9).
To that end, rule the world! Smash the Baals, tear down the Ashteroths, free the innocent from bondage, punish the murderer and thief, and restore justice and peace with the strength of your hands!
